Russian Sunbathers

March,1984, the Soviet Union had not broken up yet, but the ice on the Neva River was breaking up as it flowed past the Peter and Paul fortress in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). The sun was out so it was the perfect time to sunbathe Russian style, standing up. copyright Will van Overbeek

  1. Great picture, Will! Being from Russia myself I remember those times very well. There was nothing much to do in the old Soviet Union, anyway. Nowadays our nation is busy making money. Or begging for it. Or stealing...

    Cheers,

  2. I like the shoes on the guy smoking. Love the four different poses, and the guy with his hands on his hips and the speedo so low. I'd be interested in seeing something more recent too (not that these are uninteresting. They make me want to try film again).
